I finally finished a project that’s been rolling around in my mind for a while: an at-home edition of weekend update. This edition has less emphasis on weekends and more on what we’ve been doing during our time at home.
Update 1/3/21: I’ve added a quarantine/winter holiday break edition to scaffold those back to school conversations this week. You can get a Spanish copy here, and thanks to Natalia de Laat, here’s a French version.
Update 11/17/20: Reader request fulfilled: thanks to a request from @MsAbeja, we now have a “wishful thinking” weekend chat mat built around Quiero ir… and Quisiera ir… (I want to go… & I would like to go…) in Spanish. You can find both editions here.
Update 9/19/2020 Other versions (all Spanish) (gracias @jahdai7 for your perceptive eye & editing!)
Weekend past Weekend chat spanish preterit quarantine
Weekend simple future weekend chat spanish quarantine simple future
Weekend future Weekend chat spanish future quarantine
Update 9/20/2020 Thanks to @MrFisherSays, there are now versions in German. Future and past are separate pages in the same document here.
Update 10/4/2020 Natalia DeLaat (@natadel76) spearheaded the French edition in collaboration with Dawn Michaels (@madamednmichael), Nelly Ossia (@profnoury), and Véronique Sumbu (@vsumbu). Find it here..

This is great! Thanks.
Thank you! I was needing something just like this.
Would you mind if I made a French version?
I’d love to offer a French edition. I’ll contact you so we can get it done. 🙂
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. I was wondering if there’s a future version of the quarantine edition? Like “voy a dormir” to talk about making “exciting” weekend plans;) Thanks again! -Caty
Not yet… but that’s a good idea!
Now there is! See the links on the page 🙂
Thank you for these resources.
Is it possible to get an editable version to make a French version? I would share it back with you once done of course!
Yes, it has been posted above 🙂
Thank you for these! Is there a way to make these editable? I teach French and would love to use this. 🙂
You’re welcome. There are French editions if you scroll to the bottom of the page.
Thanks for reading!
Oh my. Thank you. I am so sorry!
Thank you!
Do you happen to have a weekend chat for after winter break?
